At-Show:
  • What is the question to ask all passing delegates?
  • What information do you seek from qualified prospects?
  • How well is your staff trained to achieve the results desired?

Depending on the size, location and complexity of your B2B trade show participation, at-show preparation can begin several days in advance or a mere several minutes.  For small booth or table top events it could be walk in, set up and go, while some domestic and overseas “mega-shows” can require several days advance “on site” activity prior to the show. 

Just like Pre-Show, preparations here also fall into the Strategic and Logistic categories.  Unless addressed in that order, your efforts can become both expensive and ineffective. 

Some of the STRATEGIC considerations:

  • Audience Expectations – What is audience coming to see, expecting to experience?
  • Company’s Expectations – What are Your company’s “take away” desires for this event?
  • Host’s Expectations – What are sponsoring organization and/or (foreign) host country’s expectations and/or ground rules for participation?
  • Who’s Doing What – Which activities/roles are being taken by which department/staff members/executives?
  • Tools & Their Use – Who provides refresher training in and ongoing mentoring of information seeking and recording tools use?

The LOGISTICS include:

  • Delivery – Assuring all booth, display and collateral material are in place, on time
  • Drayage – If required, have appropriate equipment/manpower pre ordered
  • Show Services – Again, if required, have electricity, carpet, labor, food, etc. awaiting your arrival
  • Ancillary Activities – Staff accommodations, receptions, hospitalities, customer meetings, etc.
